It has always been very important for Lancaster to find a good balance between the luxury hospitality industry and sustainability. The last few years we have made some important and positive changes in order to reduce our energy consumption and carbon footprint. For example, our beauty products in the rooms are now available only in big refillable containers and produced by a local company that only uses vegan and bio products. As a hotel we need to take action in line with guests’ needs, reduce our carbon footprint but keep the 5-star Hotel Lancaster experience that the guests are seeking by booking one of our rooms. The hotel undertakes environmental actions such as changing sheets at the client's request, using local products in the kitchen with seasonal menus, collaborating with organic brands for products in the room, recycling used oil transformed into organic fuel, and using silicone coasters instead of paper ones to avoid waste. We also ask our suppliers to be committed and we make sure of this before starting a partnership.

As it is not always easy for a 5-star city hotel to take the next step, we wanted to take it with Plastiks and use NFTs. By creating a NFT, one ton of plastics is taken out of nature and recycled but there's also a perpetual side to it. Every time one of our NFTs is sold an extra ton of plastics is being recovered. As we are a hotel, we wanted that every NFT represents one of our 54 rooms. The first collection is composed of 15 rooms and launched around the 5th of June to bring more awareness around the World Environment Day.
