Second Life is on a mission to collect and recycle ocean plastic from biodiversity hotspots from some of our world’s most beautiful beaches. We support a network of informal collectors by purchasing plastic at 50-100% above the normal market price, which helps pay for boat transportation costs and incentives that reward island plastic collection and delivery back to the mainland for recycling at our factories. As of February 2022, Second Life is the first plastic project in the world independently audited and certified under the Verra Plastic Waste Reduction Standard, an international environmental standards organization, which guarantees that all plastic collected and recycled by Second Life would not have been otherwise and therefore represents additional plastic removal from the environment.

This NFT directly supports kilograms of plastic collected by these collectors on the Thai islands of Koh Lanta, Koh Jum, Koh Klang and Koh Sriboya located in the province of Krabi, Thailand.

Located on the island of Fernando de Noronha in the Atlantic Ocean, the "Protect Paradise" global initiative is making strides in recovering plastic across the globe. Committed to sustainability and customer engagement, the 5-star Hotel Lancaster in Paris, France, has partnered with Green Mining to recover an impressive 15,420 kilograms of plastic. Proceeds from this collaboration have been utilized to rebuild a playground for local children on the island.

Fernando de Noronha is a protected area renowned for its diverse ecosystems and endangered species. With a population of 3,100 people according to the last census, nature conservation and environmental protection are core values of this community. Residents are actively involved in various environmental projects, including the Protect Paradise project.

The successful partnership between Hotel Lancaster and Green Mining has resulted in a tangible contribution to the local community near Green Mining's recycling infrastructure. The playground, constructed using minimal plastic and primarily wood, enhances the quality of life for local children while promoting education on recycling practices and raising awareness for future generations.

If you too are passionate about contributing to plastic recovery efforts and supporting local communities, consider sponsoring a plastic recovery project of your choice.
