#PLASTICFREEOCEANS
about 1 year agoplastic recovered
It is estimated that nowadays less tan 1.5% of this waste is recycled (The Ocean Cleanup), not only one of the most abundant plastic waste in our oceans but also the worst for marine life.
From Gravity Wave we’ve been facing up this problem in the Mediterranean Sea since 2020. First, by collaborating with both traditional fishermen and companies, we collect all kinds of plastic from the sea (including discarded fishing nets from fishing ports). In a second stage, as Gravity Wave, we are specialized in the recycling of those ghost and discarded fishing nets.
To this day, we have already achieved to create a stable recycling process to transform PE fishing nets into beautiful furniture, but we are always under continuous R&D processes that allow us to recycle both more types of nets (different types of nets, different plastics, different recycling needs) and in larger volumes.
These funds will help us to take our industrial recycling tests one step further. One step more towards one of our main purpose:
“Move those plastics and fishing nets away from our oceans and transform them into valuable raw material for the industry”.

Mombasa Ocean Festival
over 1 year ago1 kgplastic recovered
The MOF seeks to educate the community about ecological threats to our precious marine environment and the ways in which we all can better protect these environments.
Vintz & Rintz will team up with the Alliance Française* to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable ocean management and the dangers of plastic pollution to the local community.
During this week, we will participating of dfferent educational activities:
- Environmental awareness workshops in public schools in Mombasa
- Scientific day on the theme of Marine Aquaculture
- School visits at Kmfri (Children meets scientists)
-The Festival comes to Mburukenge (Tudor) – Community clean up, exhibition, open air screening
- Plastic art School Challenge with 15 schools (private and public)
- Visual Art Exhibition – recycled art
- Ocean Art Day on Saturday 10th of June (art activities for kids/parents)
Vintz & Rintz will be part of the: PLASTIC ART SCHOOL CHALLENGE
The aim will be to inspire innovation and educate students in participating schools on plastic pollution. Teachers from participating schools will be invited for a training session on plastic recycling and encouraged to share their knowledge with the students.
Rintz will be bring its technical support by donating box of recycled materials of different colours and shapes, which the group will use, to create a sculpture, collage etc… on the theme of “Ocean” and intervene in the workshops in the different schools in which the students will be taken through a workshop to create functional items (pencil holders, flower pots, packs) through single use plastics (bottle tops, plastic straws...). The workshops will also include a collective work of art made by the students using plastics, which will be displayed in the schools to commemorate the event.
SCIENCE TALKS: MARINE AQUACULTURE
In order to include a scientific component in the programming of the Mombasa Ocean Festival, we will collaborate with the Alliance Française and be part of scientific discussion on marine aquaculture. Local and international academics, researchers and stakeholders in the private sector will interact and present their work/research.
The Alliance Française de Mombasa was founded in 1975. It is a local non-profit educational and cultural organization supported by the French Embassy whose mission is teaching the French language, promoting cultural diversity and developing partnerships between France and Kenya.

Electric tricycles for plastic collection ♻️
over 1 year ago1 kgplastic recovered
Achievement completedIn 2020 we acquired three electric tricycles for recycling operations in the Quintero commune. These tricycles were used to transport plastics from the Recycling Module to our facilities, to perform beach cleanups and to carry out awareness-raising activities in schools.
In addition to being electric vehicles which do not emit CO2 into the environment, we use photovoltaic panels to recharge them, which makes a large part of our operations with a low CO2 footprint.
Currently these tricycles are out of service because their batteries, after two years of intensive use, said enough. In addition to needing a change of batteries, it is necessary to change the tires (the old ones will be recycled correctly 😉) lights, brakes and motion sensors.
We are asking for your support to put these tricycles back into circulation and to be able to continue our plastic recovery operation with a low CO2 footprint.

Green Mining and Lancaster Hotel become partners
over 1 year ago1 kgplastic recovered
Achievement completedLocated on the island of Fernando de Noronha in the Atlantic Ocean, the "Protect Paradise" global initiative is making strides in recovering plastic across the globe. Committed to sustainability and customer engagement, the 5-star Hotel Lancaster in Paris, France, has partnered with Green Mining to recover an impressive 15,420 kilograms of plastic. Proceeds from this collaboration have been utilized to rebuild a playground for local children on the island.
Fernando de Noronha is a protected area renowned for its diverse ecosystems and endangered species. With a population of 3,100 people according to the last census, nature conservation and environmental protection are core values of this community. Residents are actively involved in various environmental projects, including the Protect Paradise project.
The successful partnership between Hotel Lancaster and Green Mining has resulted in a tangible contribution to the local community near Green Mining's recycling infrastructure. The playground, constructed using minimal plastic and primarily wood, enhances the quality of life for local children while promoting education on recycling practices and raising awareness for future generations.

The first Medical Camp
over 1 year ago5 kgplastic recovered
Achievement completedRecognizing the importance of their contribution to society and the risks associated with their work, Esperanza Global has decided to take a step towards their betterment. The company plans to organize monthly medical health camps specifically for the waste picking community. These health camps will provide a wide range of medical services such as full-body check-ups, medical advice, and the provision of necessary medicines.
In addition to medical support, the health camps will also raise awareness among the waste pickers about the importance of handling waste safely and taking protective measures to prevent injuries and infections. The waste picker community is particularly susceptible to respiratory diseases like tuberculosis and other ailments like nausea, vomiting, and headaches. Therefore, the medical health camps will address these concerns and provide the necessary treatment.
Esperanza Global is committed to securing funding to ensure the success of this initiative. By doing so, the company aims to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the waste picker community, whose contribution to society often goes unnoticed.
In summary, Esperanza Global’s initiative to organize monthly medical health camps for the waste picker community is a noble effort aimed at providing them with much-needed medical assistance and raising awareness about the importance of safe waste handling practices. With sufficient support and funding, this initiative has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of the waste picker community.
